WEEK 7 and 8: Organize Your Stuff (round 6): Ideas, projects, unfinished pages and kits

Week 7 focus on ideas that provide inspiration for our layouts, altered items, or whatever we are creating.  There are all of kinds of inspiration we get from print and digital. It seems to be more digital now with all pinterest, blogs, and facebook as we are becoming more tech savy.  Currently, I store my inspiration in both place-print and digital.  I don't have a computer in my scraproom so I have to print it out if I'm using it for specific layout.  Right now, most of my inspiration are store on my laptop and pinterest board.  My plan is to print out all the inspiration onto 5x7 card and put in binder. this way I can flip thur if I'm in need of inspiration while in my scraproom.

the print such as magazines, idea books, and various others are store on bottom two shelves.  I have three binders--Pagemap, Allison's sketches including others, and third are various sketches from different blogs.  Currently I'm using Allison's sketches for alot of my layouts.  I have set a date for in February to go thur magazines and books if I haven't touch them then they will be either purge or sell to make room for new things.

this week 8 is all about projects, unfinished pages, and kits that accumulated in my room.  I have ton of projects that I need to finish: birthday albums that is two years old, two Dec daily of past two years, and current Dec daily for this year, and school project.  I also have alot of unfinished pages that need journals and/or pictures is also sitting there.  I don't scribe to any club kits right now as I have ton of papers that I just can't justify to scribe. So my goal is to counterfeit some kits to use those papers up so i can scribe to one kit club next year. All of those things are store on this small bookshelf I created.

Each shelf hold two specific project or pages:
first shelf--Amber and Caleb's pages
second shelf--Tyler's pages and yearly pages
third shelf--school album and birthday albums
fourth shelf--Dec daily 2010 and 2011
fourth shelf-- extra Christmas supplies and premade pages

My goal this week is to finish the three spots on the shelf--amber, Caleb and Tyler's pages

I'm finish up the pages on Caleb--here is a peek of currently layout sitting on table--

In this box is all the unfinished pages that just need journals and date--
I don't write late at night--tend to make mistakes alot when I'm tire so I'm hoping to do this on Saturday during the day to finish this up.

Organize your Stuff: update

Hi, all

I'll be covering a few weeks to update what I haven't posted for while.

Week 9: Embellishments

I recently find these storage boxes for my embellishments. I have decide to group them by color as I tend to scrap by colors. since I did this, I just love it.

Week 10 and 11 : Alphas,non-alphas, and rub-on

I combined both ao and 11 as I sorted them by colors, or themes depending on what they are.  they are in my file drawers.  I have been using them more up now then I did before. I also started a small purge piles as I have set rules when to use them up as i have some of them for years.  Some of them may have went into my embellishment boxes such as for example-in the yellow box, I put the flower stickers in this so i can use them more.  I have few small rub-on collections taht are store in my karen foster small box as I don't have too many of them.

Week 12: ribbons, threads, and fibers
As you can see, I had sorted most of my ribbons into color. Then I'm planning to wrap them around card to store them easily I haven't work on for while which I need to start it up again.
This is where I store all my fun furs.  I don't mind digging thur and finding what i need as I don't often refer to it. Threads--I only have about two as I just recently get a sewing maching at Kmart for 28 bucks. whoo whoo.  I'm planning to get those thread rack that you can put on the wall if I start to accumlate more. I need to go to Joann's to get the colors I would like to have.

Week 13: Stamps
I have tons of stamps.  I have a full bin here at this house and i have more at my mom's house. Right now, the bin i have here I'm sorting them by themes using the med size green bins for storage for right now until i figure out how I want to store them.  there is so many possible storages that i can't decide how i want to do them.

Week 14: Crop supplies

I have a crop bag that i used to take to crop. I also have duplicates tools such as tweezer, scissors, ruler, pencils, post it notes, and a box of embellishment mixtures. However, since having kids I hardly ever go to crop so i clean the bag out and set up a caddy for if i have guest over for scrapping and those tools can be use for them.  It works out great.  If i do go to a crop, I can just grab them again, and take my kits that i make ahead of time.

Week 15: inks, ink pads, and embossing
Right now I have my ink pads store in the drawer to keep little hands out. I'm looking into purchase a specfic storage unit that would hold--all three ink pad, reink and markers.  I also want to purchase additional unit that would would other inks such as distress inks, and other type of inks.

Currently, I have my embossing power, heating tool and veramark ink in this drawer which I abosulaty love.

week 16: paints, glitters, and stickles

My paints are currently store away.  I only have one container of glitter and four stickles.

I will cover week 17 to 20 in couple days..

Off to work on couple layouts, thanks for reading.

We don't know the gender yet as you can see the baby was being shy. lol Hopefully our next visit we will find out for sure.  I've been working on some projects. I'm trying to work on my to do list that I have set up but it is getting hard to get into the scrap room as my daughter had decided to skip her napping time.  I'm still working on organize this challenge, just haven't been able to update which i hope to this weekend and start blogging again.  Off to work on my to do list as well as catching up on my blog readers.  Have a great day!

Organize Your Stuff: Week 9 Embellishment Progress Report

Good Afternoon,
Been a busy week with summer activities, cleaning, and many errands...
this past four weeks I have been working on embellishments for Organize your stuff challenge. . As I was cleaning and gathering alot of my embellishment, I was discovering forgotten things I had. lol
the first picture show how I'm sorting things by colors-all ribbons, button, anything that I find will be store here until I decide how I'm going to store them. the second picture is the cropper hopper box I purchased from a pea on sale board. so far I'm liking this storage idea.  I will show more picture of this once I finish storing  and labeling them the third picture is the progress of working on this with my box I put loose embellishment so i can group them.

During this past week, I made two father's day cards for my daddy and brother in law.  this all came from my stash--the card base measure 4 by 11.  the pp on both cards came from a 6 x 6 recipe card swap i did which was leftover--just trim 1.5 off.  on first card-tab and oval shape came from the same pp stash--it was part of kit, silver brad for tab seond card die cut arrow from that same pp stash, ribbon from leftover from previous stash, CTMH Fishing stamp. I also faux stitch on the first card and both inside of card. Hope you enjoy.  I kept it simple and quick for me. It was hard for me to come up for my daddy as he doesn't wear tie and don't do other sports. lol

I'm working on a third father's day  card for my bf--going to include my daughter as well. I'm also working on my son's invitations. My goal for tonite is to finish the card and get the monkey cut out.
off to do some cleaning and make supper (i know it's early but bf had a doc apt and want him to eat before he go then he work at 8). Talk to you soon!

Organize your stuff: round 4 Week 7 and 8 Progress Repeort

Posted by Picasa
Good morning,

sorry to be MIA this past week as I have a sick toddler with severe stomach flu again. ugh plus I got it too but feeling much better today. However, my toddler doesn't want to eat applesauce, or chicken soup to make her tummy better. ugh anyone got tips? lol she is getting hard to feed. She was never a picky eater when she was baby but she is beginning to be one. no clue why.

Anyway, progress report on week 7: Ideas. I did purge my magazines from the last round I did here. so I still have a small stash that I kept. I haven't brought anymore as I was being disappoint with the quality of magazine as I pay alot for advertisement kinda sense instead of layouts and stories. I turned to the Internet for my inspirations. I have two binders for Pagemap and Allison Davis sketches. I'm currently working on my third binder for ideas I have save onto to my computer then print to paper. I don't really sort them by cards or layouts as I probably should but I tend to use it for inspirations if I get struck on layout or just want to browse. Now with pintrest, I will be using that more and reduce the paper waste (going green here lol) I'm still working on this. I haven't been able to with sick kiddo.

For week 8: Projects, unfinished pages, and kits

I have purchased project boxes from walmart-
I have three main projects store here.--Dec Daily 2010 and two birthday albums.

the unfinished pages are in cropper hopper with dividers for each album-Amber's Baby, Caleb's baby, and miscellaneous (yearly albums)

Kits-I don't scribe to kits but i have a few that i have made myself they are currently store in page protectors.

the last picture of my little boy-9 months starting to crawl on his knee instead of army crawl. lol so adorable.  Next is working on embellishments for week 9.  Thanks for reading.

Organize Your Stuff: Week 4 , 5 and 6 Progress Report

I use the grey basket to store my leftover scraps when working on projects. When I finish the projects, I will sort and purge. After sorting I will put them in my colors bins as posted in second drawer. I try once a month to go thur them and further cut them into sizes or purge and donate leftover scraps to keep it manageable.   The paper are organized by colors and themes.  I have two holders for stampin up-solid and pattern papers.  the rest are mixed brands--they are sorted by color then by Plain, textured and pattern paper.  I tend to scrap by colors and this work for me.  the smaller holders are sorted by themes.  I have one bigger holder for Christmas as I seem to collect alot of them. lol.   I love how my papers are sorted. I'm scrapping more now they are all together.

Week 6 was photos--I will be working on this project for while as I have alot to organize--printed and digital.  I will show my process in later post of how I'm doing this.

Week 7: ideas and week 8--I'm working on both of them as I have already established the them but just need to be tweaked so I'm combing them both for week 7.

Organize Your Stuff: Week 2 round 4

Brainstorming:

Question of the week: do you think the size of your stash affects your creativity?

For me, it is not the size, not able to find what I’m looking for that affects my creativity. If I’m in middle of designing a layout, then I want to look for embellishment I know I have but can’t find it, that what kills it. So by further organizing my stash as well as purging what I won’t use I can use up what I have and purchase what I need when planning my pages.

Scrap Fairy Vision:

Great lighting, openness, a lot of counter space to spread out. Available tools out when I need them and ability to clean up quickly and put away at end of night. Love to have a moderate size island to spread my projects out, have stations set up along wall, tv and internet access.

Picture of my room (Current): I have some things in boxes for sorting.  I have a hard time purging things because you just never know you might need it. lol but I'm going to work on this.  the layout of room will remain the same.  I just need to fine tune some of area as the weeks progress.

off to do some cleaning and hopefully to finish some of projects today in scrap room. Also need to make my errand list for tomorrow which first thing is to get my glass fix as my sweet little girl decide to play with my glass and broke the arm off. mmmm what am I'm going to do with this girl? lol lol
